Christmas Pinecone Basket Supplies Needed:
You’ll just need a few simple supplies to make your beautiful, festive holiday pinecone basket!
- Woven Basket {I opted for one with a plaid liner}
- Pine Cones {if you can, just take a walk and collect them from your yard or park. They can be any size, but I LOVE these gigantic ones I found in Northern California last year!}
- Artificial Christmas greens wreath picks from your craft store. {I found these full and fluffy wired pick bunches at Hobby Lobby with little pops of red Holly Berries, and just needed 2 bunches}
- Optional: Small additional red pops of color {I added in two little red bows… or you could place some miniature red ornaments in the basket, too!}
How to Prepare Pine Cones for Crafts:
Now before we get started the first thing we’ll want to do is to bake our pine cones. Â This will ensure any itty bitty bugs that might be hiding in there, aren’t going to takeover our homes.
Here’s how to bake pine cones…
- Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
- Line cookie sheet with aluminum foil, place pine cones on foil, and bake for 30 minutes. {this will help clean up the pine cones and take care of any little bugs that might have been hiding inside} So long buggies!
- Remove tray from oven, and allow pine cones to cool completely.
How to Make Christmas Pine Cone Centerpieces in a Basket:
- Start by adding your wreath picks to the basket.
- Primp and shape wreath picks as needed.
- Then begin adding in your pinecones, and arranging as desired.
- Finish off with any additional pops of color… like mini ornaments, tiny bows, etc!
It’s about as quick and easy as a craft can be, and will make a lovely personalized Christmas decoration for your home!
