Want to try lavender scrub and add vanilla. How much vanilla should i add?
Karen Campbell says
Hi I just made a batch using coconut oil and sugar, same consistency as your recipe but overnight it has hardened and I have to work to get it out of the container. Is there such a thing as old coconut oil not staying pliable enough?
Heidi says
Hi Karen ~ hmm… it may have to do with the temperature of your house? Coconut oil gets softer in warmer temperatures and harder in cooler temperatures, so if the temperature dropped overnight it could explain the reason it hardened up a bit. Hope that helps!
Charlotte anderson says
I make something similar and add a small amount of honey.
Heidi says
Great idea, Charlotte… that sounds luxurious!
Heather says
Does it have to be in jars? They only sell them it certain seasons. Can I use plastic?
Colleen says
I am making this scrub for my baby shower and I bought 4 oz jars to fill. Does anyone know how many 1 batch will fill so I can get an idea of how much supplies to get. Thanks!!
Liliana says
these are fantastic! they made my hands so soft. using them for christmas gifts!
Heidi says
So glad you like it, Liliana! These definitely make great gifts!! 🙂
Erin says
Hi! I just made a bunch of these for Christmas gifts. Where should I store them? It probably wouldn’t be a good idea to keep them in the fridge, because they’ll solidify, right?
Heidi says
Hi Erin ~ you can just store them on the counter, and they’ll be just fine. 🙂
Keri says
How many jars will one batch make? I’m going to be making these for Christmas gifts.
Holly says
did you find out how many jars one batch will make?
Erin says
I doubled the batch and it filled 2 of the wide mouth half-pint jars.
Jessica C says
Can you substitute anything in particular for the coconut oil? I have an allergy to coconut but would love to make the lavender sugar scrub
Heidi says
Hi Jessica… hmm ~ you could try making a Brown Sugar / Olive Oil Scrub, like this one:

or you could try making Lavender Bath Salts:

Jennifer says
Is there any issue with coconut oil clogging ghe drain over time?
mary says
a good rule of thumb is: anything that will return to a solid is not a good thing to pour down drains….pour it into a ziplock bag and put in garbage
Ilona says
