Milky Way Cookie Recipe Gift in a Jar

Milky Way Cake Mix Cookies Recipe Easy

What You’ll Need To Make this Milky Way Cookie Recipe Gift in a Jar:

  • 1 box Betty Crocker Milk Chocolate Cake Mix {15.25 oz.}
  • 1 bag Milky Way Bites {7 oz.}
  • Scrapbook Paper
  • Ribbon
  • 1 quart size Wide Mouth Mason Jar

How to Make Cookie Mix in a Jar:

  • Carefully empty the contents of the cake mix package into your quart-sized wide mouth Mason Jar, and gently pat down the top.
  • Pour in the Milky Way Bites
  • Put the silver jar topper on top, place a round scrap of scrapbook paper on top, then screw on the jar’s lid.  {or you could use a doilie like I did here}
  • Tie a bow around the middle.
  • Optional: If you’ve got a Silhouette, you could even print the words ‘Cookie Mix’ like I did here.

Attach a Label with Baking Instructions:

  • Attach a label {or you can add the instructions to the top of the jar’s lid} with the following baking instructions.
  • Beat together 2 eggs and 1/2 cup Vegetable or Canola Oil in medium bowl.
  • Pour in entire contents of jar, and stir well with spoon.
  • Chill dough for 15 minutes in the refrigerator prior to baking.
  • Then, drop onto ungreased non-stick cookie sheet in rounded balls.
  • Bake for approx. 8 – 9 minutes {or until done} at 350 degrees.

    Does it have to be a betty crocker cake mix or can it be a duncan hines cake mix?

        Hi Hannah ~ I have personally had better success with the Betty Crocker Cake Mixes. And yes ~ you can experiment with different kinds of candies as mix-ins. Check out this list for some tasty inspiration:

    Do you use the whole box and bag in 1 jar? Or does it make more then 1?

      Hi Lucy ~ yes… you’ll use the entire contents of the cake mix and entire bag of Milky Way bites in one jar. It will be a snug fit, but you can tamp down the cake mix a bit to make more room. Hope that helps! 😉
