This is one of my favorites! Can you also make this in the instant pot?
Heidi says
Hi Jenni ~ I’m so glad you like it! I honestly haven’t tried making this one in the Instant Pot, but you could definitely change it a bit to convert it to an Instant Pot recipe. I would probably use less of the preserves though, to thin the sauce down so you don’t get the ‘burn’ warning on your Instant Pot.

Hope that helps! If you try it in your instant pot, let me know how it goes! 🙂

Made this yesterday and was worried I put too much Mandiran Teriyaki Sauce ! My husband loved it .. Served with Plantation Rice and salad. Easy and delicious, definitely going to make this again. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
Heidi says
You’re very welcome, Betty! I’m so glad you both enjoyed it, and the rice and salad sound like the perfect sides!
Betty says
A great cook I am not. Trying to use the crock pot more often. Finally found the pineapple preserves but think I was sent the wrong sauce. I received Panda Express Mandarin Teriyaki sauce. Can someone tell me if this will taste different from Mandarin Sauce ? I’m really looking forward to making this.
Heidi says
Hi Betty ~ that will work just fine. It looks like they just changed the label to add the word Teriyaki. Enjoy your dinner! 🙂
Kim says
Can i cut up the chicken or do i have to leave the breasts whole?
Elizabeth says
Can’t believe how simple this is. That’s why I love my crockpot – just throw everything in, wait a while, and it’s ready to go. I used to cook my chicken in the oven until I discovered you can just toss it in the crockpot and it comes out great. Haven’t cooked chicken in the oven since 🙂
I’ll definitely be giving this recipe a try soon!
TracieB says
I made this tonight and it was wonderful. The whole family liked it. Thanks so much for posting this recipe. Easy and tastes great! I also made a fried rice recipe from Pinterest to go along with it.
Definitely will make again.
Patricia Thompson says
What size Crockpot do you use- Do you layer the Chicken.
Heidi says
Hi Patricia ~ 5 – 7 quart crockpots work great for this recipe, and laying the chicken flat {not layering} works best. Hope that helps! 🙂
stacey says
Hi Heidi! If I use half the ingredients, do I alter the cooking time?
Jessie Matthews says
Just made this last night and it was AWESOME! I couldn’t find plain Pineapple Preserves, so used a mix of Pineapple Apricot and Orange Marmalade. Delicious!!
Heidi says
Sounds delicious, Jessie… great substitute! 😉
Travis says
I was just wondering do you cook it on high or low? Looks delicious !!!
Travis says
Sorry just read the directions again I found it.
Jo Kelly says
Hi guys…..I live on glorious god coast queensland Australia and cannot get your preserve or sauce products here…….any simple substitutes?
Sounds so yummy…..will look in Coles and woolies stores for sauces here?
Rachel T says
Hi there! Any substitutes for the pineapple preserves? I can’t find this in any of my local stores! or any hints on where to look!? dying to try this dish!
Melissa says
Hi, I was having the same problem and decided to try it with apricot-pineapple preserves instead. Came out delicious. 🙂
Amberdew says
This sounds amazing for my gramma she loves the sweet and sour type sauces!!! And she’s always up for new eats!! And I’m always up for EASY!!! Thanks
Nikki says
This pineapple chicken is SUPER EASY!!
And taste really GOOD!! Thank you for sharing the recipe:)
Heidi says
Aww ~ thanks, Nikki… I’m so glad you loved it! 😉
Linda says
Sounds great but no liquid at first? Chicken won’t stick to the crock? Won’t the chicken dry out? Sounds delish otherwise
Heidi says
Hi Linda ~ no water is required in the crockpot with the chicken… it will end up cooking in its own juices. Hope that helps! 😉
Emily says
How do you cook the chicken? With water in the crockpot?
Heidi says
Hi Emily ~ you won’t need to add any water… the chicken will cook in its own juices that are released. Hope that helps! 😉
Char says
What would happen if I didn’t drain the juices after 3 hours? I’m wondering because I usually throw everything in and not worry about it until dinner. these recipe’s look so good and I’d like to try them all. Is it just a matter of everything being watered down maybe? Or could we get sick if I don’t? (It’s chicken so I’m nervous) Thanks!
Heidi says
Hi Char ~ it’s not necessary to drain the juices… I just like to because you end up with a much thicker sauce in the end. 😉 If you aren’t around to do that, then yes… you could definitely add all ingredients at the beginning and will have a thinner sauce in the end. Hope that helps!
Stephanie S. says
Hey Heidi! Do you have any recipes with the nutritional information calculated with it? One of my children is a diabetic, and these recipes look so delicious, but I’m needing the carb and sugar content information, so I’ll know if I need to make some adjustments. Thank you!
