Have you noticed how expensive bread products have been getting? Even Wal-Mart and Costco’s prices seem to have gone up for just a basic loaf of bread.
This is why I love shopping at my local bread outlet store! Everything pictured above, I purchased for just $9.83 today!
For years I avoided the bread outlet, thinking that it was full of stale, “day-old” bread. However, once I finally got brave enough to give it a try, I was so surprised.
The bread items they sell are fresh, and usually 3 – 7 days from expiration. And not only do they have occasional coupons for free items, but they also have 10% off discount days, spend $5 get 1 free item deals, and punch cards to score you even more free bread!
In addition to my favorite Oroweat and Miltons breads, my local bread outlet is also packed with cheap Boboli Pizza Crusts, Tortillas, and even Entenmanns donuts and desserts.
If you haven’t started shopping at a bread outlet store, give it a try! You {and your budget} might be pleasantly surprised!!
Do you include shopping at your bread outlet store in your regular grocery runs? Leave a comment, I’d love to hear!

Hmmm….I haven't shopped at a bread outlet in a long time, but now I'm thinking I should stop in soon! Thanks for the reminder!

Audra ~ I have caught myself saying the very same thing! Even yesterday my hubby asked if he should pick some hamburger buns up at Costco, and I said no, no… I can get them cheaper at the bread store! 🙂

I just stopped at the Holsum bread store on my way home from work. I spent $9.98, received a 5% discount for bringing my reusable bags and two FREE Bread Items! I have all the bread, buns, english muffins that I will need for the next month.
I feel blessed to have one on my way home and one close to home! Double the greatness! I have been shopping the bread store for 30 years or more, first with my mother and now on my own.
Have you ever caught yourself saying…"I could get this cheaper/this would be cheaper at the bread store"?
Love your blog btw…

I love to do the same thing in FL. We have (some) Dollar Trees bread for($1)and Big Lots that have bread for under $1.60. I stock up every other month. I freeze them immediately and once I am ready to use I throw into the refridgerator. I believe it is one of the best kept secrets!!!

We have a Wonder Bread thrift store here and I shop it occasionally. It does have some really good deals, but we don't seem to eat as much bread for sandwiches now that hubby & I are empty nesters. And I have a weakness for donuts…another reason to drive on by.

What is the name of your outlet store? We have a few close by us here in Texas. I love all the Oroweat Whole wheat bread. I went to my local outlet recently and stocked up. Also emailed Pepperidge Farm and they sent me great coupons that will score me free bread!!

There's not a bread outlet near us anymore. Actually the one that is is the hostees/wonder bread outlet not exactly our cup of HFCS. There was an entemans near us which was awesome but it closed down and life has not been the same since.

I haven't gone in ages, but I think we have one close. I think I'll check it out soon.

Man, I wish we had one near us – that sounds fantastic!! We don't eat a lot of bread, but the stuff we like always seems at the high end of the bread price range… I have a great bread machine, but I've never found any recipes that give me a resulting loaf like, for example, the Pepperidge Farms whole grain and fruit breads – love those!!!

I've got a few tips for how to save at the bakery outlet/bread store:
