We used off brand onion soup mix and campbells cream of mushroom soup. I added a little water because I was going to be away at work all day, but I put everything together and cooked it on low for 9 hours and it was amazing! A little too salty for us, so the next time we went with the “heart healthy” that had a little less sodium, and only half the packet of onion soup mix. We added the french fried onions a half hour before serving like in the recipe. This was so great! Definitely our favorite meal now!

trying this tonight. The chicken won’t dry out if there’s no water or broth in the crock pot? I may add some broth to it so it won’t dry out. Excited to try!

    • Heidi says

Hi Joann ~ no water or broth is necessary, because it will end up cooking in its own juices. If you’d like, you can definitely add some, though. 😉

I’m making this tonight and would like to add rice…is there any way I can do so without cooking rice separately? If so, what do I do?

    Thanks so much!!:)
