Heidi says
Thanks, Christie! They really are such a fun flavor… kind of unexpected in a cookie, but such a tasty treat! 🙂 You will love them!
Suzy Zawadzke says
I’ve made these but I always add cut up maraschino cherries to the mix and then I frost them with vanilla frosting-soooo good!
Danette Williams says
I think you could make these with any type of cake mix. Just add chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, cherry chips, butterscotch chips, pecans, walnuts, raisins. What about a spice cake with raisins?
Heidi says
Yes… you can definitely make with other types of cake mixes and mix-ins. The Spice with raisins sounds delicious! 😉 For more variations you can check out this page of recipes:

Why not use white cake mix and just mix in a small jar of maraschino cherries? I love anything cherry, esp. With real red tart cherries.
kymberle CC says
My mom made these back when I was a little girl. She added a little red food color and chopped maraschino cherries and then topped with half a cherry right out of the oven. I always loved those cookies.
