I absolutely love to travel… but after moving from Arizona to Washington this summer, we’ve been pretty much glued to our house with our big ol’ crazy house remodel!
So… after working three straight months on the house, when the time finally came to take off for a mini little vacation last week, I can honestly say I was near ecstatic! {seriously… I was borderline crazy-excited to get away! Watch out ~ lunatic house remodel girl was on the loose!}
Several of you have been asking for more travel tips + tricks, so when it comes to hotel nights, here’s what works for us… a Choice Hotels Visa! Every month we charge our big expenses… like orthodontist bills {ouch}, groceries, gas, etc. ~ then we pay the bill all off at the end of the month. This particular Visa card has no annual fee, but the perk it gives is that you can accrue points to use towards free hotel nights. So… every year we’re able to earn several free nights! {wahoo!}
So, just last week we were able to stay 4 FREE Hotel Nights in Wenatchee, Washington!
Then… because we were able to save $$ on lodging, we decided to splurge on a boat rental! {I know, I know… it was a big splurge, but renting a boat for a few hours every year or two helps my hubby get his boating fix… without us having to buy a boat}
So ~ it was tube time at Lake Chelan with my crazy boys! {and yes… I’m sporting the elbow-rubbed raw look right now to prove I went, too!}
So ~ there you have it… my little travel tip to earning free hotel nights!
Got a fun travel tip or trick??

For our trip to Disneyland over the summer we stay with Marriott most of are trips so we get points for free nights but we pick up the Gift Cards at our grocery store for gas points try to plan it when the store is offering x4 *U* Including tickets for the park, and any food we might use
on the way or around the park.
This trip we picked up gift cards for the Marriott
Ooh ~ that’s a fabulous tip, Lauren!!
did you get to pick any peaches?
Ooh ~ I love those peaches from Eastern Washington! Sadly we didn’t pick any peaches, but we did buy 5 lbs. of cherries from a local farm! {yum!}
