I did something similar for my kids & grandparents – got teh 12×12 canvases (on sale with a coupon from Michaels, of course – so they were less than $2 a piece. We fingerpainted a solid color of washable paint on the white canvas, for a background, then I let the kids put a hand or footprint down in the middle. And we turned them into animals – an elephant, bee, butterfly, fish, horse & cow. It is awesome artwork for our playroom – cheap and my favorite art in the house :) We did some canvases for grandparents, too – 2 fish (hand prints from each kid) with a “Grampa’s Little Angel Fish” writing, a lady bug & a butterfly made with foot prints, with “Gramma’s Little Cutie Bugs” written on it. And then for our farmer grandparents, I made a basic barn, and each child made a cow & horse handprint. i don’t consider myself artistic… but these were so easy! Here’s a pick of what’s haning in our playroom (I took the pic before I remembered to draw wings on the bee though). I sprayed all the canvases with acrylic matte top coat spray to keep the colors sharp and from washing off since the washable paint disappears with just a drop of water. Super super easy – cheap – and awesome in my opinion. I can share more pics if you want (my family blog is set to private) –
