We made a large one on our childrens’ bedroom wall. We use trim for the frame and an extra piece of trim at the bottom for a chalk tray. It works perfect! My daughter uses it to practice for spelling words. They use it almost everyday.

Thanks so much for featuring my chalkboard! It’s one of those few projects where minimal effort will yield great results. (Mirrors and picture frames are even easier to turn into chalkboards if you decide not to paint the frames.)

Thanks again–I appreciate the shout out!

We used the kind that came in a quart sized paint can. We painted it on a sanded half sheet of ply-wood then framed it. That way it isn’t permanently on your wall and you can move it.

I did this project for my business I just opened. I needed a temporary sign above our front door, so with some elaborate frames i got from and made one. Turns out it has been a hit. So we made another one for the customers to sign and draw on! great Idea!!!
