My alternative to paper towels was to buy an econo-bunch-stack of white washcloths from Wal-Mart. My husband loved the idea and uses them often and even some of my friends have caught on. We use them for anything from cleaning in the kitchen to using them as ‘coasters’ for particularly sweaty large glasses. I bought white so I can toss them in the wash with some bleach if needed. I do keep one roll of paper towels in the house for two reasons–if I’m working with a lot of raw meat or to blot pepperoni pizza after baking (ewww greasy).
I love viva! As for my greener solution, my Grammie loves to crochet & knit, and has made a bunch of wash clothes for all her grandchildren. We use them all the time, and it keeps her busy and happy at still being productive.
We love Viva Choose a size for baby wipes. A whole lot cheaper and easier on my babies bottoms.
